Former Director General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has appealed to aggrieved members of the House of Representatives after the announcement of house leaders stirred controversy on Wednesday.
Mr Jibrin tweeted on Thursday shortly after Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced Alhassan Doguwa as the leader of the house.
Drama had ensued at the house on Wednesday as lawmakers struggled to grab the mace after Gbajabiamila defied the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by naming Ndudi Elumelu as the House Minority Leader despite PDP choosing Kingsley Chinda for the position.
The speaker said the decision to announce Mr Elumelu as minority leader was based on an agreement by several minority parties which PDP is only a part of.
Jibrin, in his tweet, thanked his colleagues for their support in naming principal officers and ‘the aggrieved for their understanding’.
“The House of Reps is fully stabilised. The contest for principal officers position is settled with everyone on board. The body of principal officers has been constituted moments ago. we thank all our colleagues for their support and the aggrieved for their understandin,” he said.
Gbajabiamila also announced Peter Akpatason as deputy leader, Tahir Monguno as chief whip and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha as deputy chief whip.
