Senator Elisha Abbo has been granted bail after spending the night in police custody.
Mr Abbo, on Thursday, surrendered himself to the Federal Capital Territory Police (FCT) Command for questioning over assault on a nursing mother.
The lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District had come under backlash following the release of a video showing how he assaulted the lady at an adult toy shop in Abuja.
FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, told Premium Times that Abbo was released at noon on Friday after meeting a set of administrative conditions for his bail.
Mr Ciroma did not name the bail conditions which the senator met.
The embattled legislator had wept and apologised to the woman on Wednesday during a press briefing he organised to address matters over the video.
It was gathered that the assault victim was out of Abuja to attend the funeral of a deceased relative.
It is not clear if Abbo would be charged to court afterwards.
