Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called for the arrest of former President Olusegun Obasanjo over comments he made in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obasanjo had in a letter dated July 15 advised Mr. Buhari to take decisive steps in tackling insecurity in the country.
The former President said rather than ‘hammer’ the farmer-herder crisis, the impression is that Buhari’s government is treating it with kid gloves.
In an interview with PUNCH, the national secretary of Miyetti Allah, Alhassan Saleh, asked Obasanjo to offer any information he has in order to solve the security crisis.
Mr. Saleh said the Fulani are not responsible for the security challenges in the country.
Obasanjo had also called for a national dialogue that would include all geo-political zones in the country on how best to make the country work.
Saleh said the National Assembly was responsible for any such dialogue.
He also questioned what became of the Goodluck Jonathan conference report, adding that “they are just pushing an agenda”.
“The earlier they get him (Obasanjo) arrested and dealt with, according to the laws of the land, the better. He doesn’t mean well for the country. We just elected a new government; we have a National Assembly that was just inaugurated. Nobody needs any conference, except they are pushing for something else,” he said.
