Police in Ondo say they have made some arrests in connection to the murder of 58-year-old Funke Olakunri, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Mrs. Olakunri was killed by an armed gang on Ore-Sagamu road last Friday.
Ondo police spokesman, Femi Joseph, said on Monday that the identities of the suspects would be kept hidden as more arrests are still expected to be made.
Mr. Joseph said the suspects were arrested when a team of security operatives stormed forests in the area near Ore, Ondo.
He said the suspects would be paraded as soon as possible.
The murder of Olakunri sparked outrage from individuals and groups across the county, especially from leaders in the south-west region.
Some of those who condemned the killing were former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka.
On his visit to the victim’s family on Sunday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the Federal Government would deploy soldiers to highways in a bid to stem rising insecurity in the country.
