Governors Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Emeka Ihedioha of Imo, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna have commiserated with the former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi, over the death of his father, Muhammad Makarfi.
The elderly Makarfi died on Tuesday and was buried in his hometown in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna.
In a statement on Wednesday by his chief press secretary, Charles Aniagwu, Mr Okowa commiserated with the family, the people of Makarfi community, and the entire Kaduna State, over the demise of Makarfi.
“We received the news of the demise of your beloved father with shock, but we are consoled by the fact that he lived a life of dedicated service to humanity.
“We share in your sorrow and pain at this period; and we pray that God will grant you the courage to bear the loss, even as we pray for the repose of the soul of the departed.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, we mourn with the Ex-National Chairman of our great party, PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) and former governor of Kaduna State, Sen Ahmed Muhammad Makarfi, on the unfortunate demise of his beloved father,’’ the governor said.
Messrs Ihedioha and El-Rufai also commiserated with the deceased’s family.
Ihedioha said: “My heartfelt condolences to the family of the former Chairman of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party and Former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi over the demise of his beloved father. I pray Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort the family.”
