Governors Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, have attended the burial of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Mrs Olakunrin was buried on Monday at the cemetery of St. David’s Cathedral Anglican Church, Akure, Ondo State.
She was killed by an armed gang on July 12 along Benin-Ore expressway.
Also at the burial were former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode; former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko; Senator Iyiola Omisore; and former minister of communications, Omobola Johnson.
Akeredolu, on behalf of other South-West governors, said they were bent on facing security challenges in the region head-on.
“It is a serious security challenge but we are prepared to face the challenge, don’t doubt it.
“Something drastic and urgent has to be done and we are determined to do it, there is no other way,” he said.
