Comedian and motivational speaker, I Go Dye, has stated that people should see social media as more than a tool for noise-making.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the 40-year-old said that social media is the most “formidable means of speaking and reaching out to the larger society in this 21st century.”
He also advised Nigerians to use social media instead of using guns or violent means to pass their message across.
“FOR THOSE WHO THINK PEOPLE MAKE NOISE ON SOCIAL MEDIA YOU ARE WRONG. Social media is means of mass commmuncation that has given hope and caused uprising in many countries . It has created a means of protest to many issues, generating attention and mediums of social change and revolt against government, helping those who have oppressed to be heard.
“You may not believe in the out cry on social media, but I can gladly tell you that it has liberated many people and it’s the most formidable means of speaking and reaching out to the larger society in this 21st century. We can’t make progress as a nation if all we do is remain silent and take up arms as the only means of expressing our displeasure on certain issues against government,” he wrote in parts.
In June, I Go Dye gifted his son, Roy Agoda, a mansion on his ninth birthday.
I Go Dye started his career presenting mock news on Delta Broadcasting Service 1994. He later got a contract as a stand-up comedian at Prest Motel in Benin City.
His exploits made him feature in a popular comedy show, Night of a Thousand Laughs, in 2000.
