The National and State Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State Friday sacked Buruji Kashamu as the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district for non-compliance with electoral law.
National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Golden Man of the Year, Kashamu was elected on the platform the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The three- man panel headed by Justice Ebiowei Tobi while delivering judgement, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in 110 polling units in the Senatorial district within 90 days.
Also sacked were a member of House of Representatives for Ijebu East/Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Hon. Adekoya Adesegun, and five members of the state House of Assembly.
The petition challenging Kashamu’s victory in the March 28 National Assembly election was filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun.
