A female corpse has been found beneath a bed in a hotel room in Owerri, capital of Imo State.
Her male partner who had checked into the hotel with her on Saturday was said to have fled before the corpse was found on Sunday.
The suspect was alleged to have strangled the woman after they had sex.
The corpse, which has not been identified by the police, was discovered by one of the hotel attendants who went in to clean the room.
Imo police spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, has confirmed the incident, saying that investigation had begun.
“The death was reported to us and we are investigating it. The male partner fled but we have sensitive information. We are closing in on him with. It is a case of murder.
“The victim’s identity has not been ascertained because his partner who apparently killed her made away with her phone and bag. There is no means of identification for now but we have advanced our investigation and soon we will apprehend the fleeing killer,” Mr Ikeokwu said.
