Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Olusegun Runsewe, has condemned the recent display of strippers in a truck on Lagos road by pop singer, Tekno.
The truck was stuck in the traffic last Friday around the Lekki/Ikoyi tollgate in Lagos with semi-nude ladies dancing seductively.
Videos of the incident showing five oiled girls in lingerie dancing around a pole with Tekno throwing foreign currency at them and smacking their butts immediately went viral on social media.
In a statement on Tuesday by his media aide, Frank Meke, Runsewe commended the Lagos State Government for promptly addressing the issue.
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency suspended the licence of the firm that reportedly owns the van for promoting indecent acts.
Runsewe said that the show negated the beauty of Nigerian culture and ways of life.
“Nigeria will never succumb to imported cultural pastime or to blackmail, tailored to destroy centuries old and rich Nigerian culture,” he said.
“This dizzying madness can’t and would not be allowed to turn Nigeria to a destination for sex and illegal drugs tourism.
“Enough is enough, and for God’s sake, where is this coming from?”
Runsewe also said that his office was investigating allegations of offences against Nigerian culture being promoted by a pay-TV station company.
He called on traditional rulers to join hands with the government to check the open rage and rape against Nigerian culture with possible consequences of the unimaginable.
