An Oyo State High Court has discharged and acquitted Bisi Ilaka, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of a murder case brought against him by the previous administration.
Justice K.B Olawoyin in his judgement on Tuesday freed Ilaka of all the eight-count charges brought against him.
The judge agreed with the no-case submission of Ilaka’s counsel, Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, a commissioner-nominee in Oyo.
Justice Olawoyin also ordered the police to return Ilaka’s licensed firearm and other materials taken from him before the commencement of the trial.
Ilaka, and his security aide, Temitayo Alamiyo, were accused of being responsible for the death of three persons when violence broke out at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, during Orayan festival on September 8, 2018.
Ilaka was at the time the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial election.
His sport utility vehicle was said to have been damaged by hoodlums.
