“Today, we commence the naming and shaming of convicted sexual offenders in Ekiti State. #SayNotoRape,” he said.
Fayemi shared a picture of Reverend Gabriel Asateru whom he said was sentenced to five years imprisonment for sexual abuse and exploitation of a 7-year old girl.
The text in the photo said: “This person whose picture appears here is Rev. Asateru Gabriel, formerly of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ifisin-Ekiti.
“He is currently serving a five-year prison sentence at the Federal Prisons, Ado-Ekiti, for sexual abuse and exploitation of a seven-year-old girl.
“He has been registered in the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice Sex Offenders’ Register.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Wale Fapounda, had at a press conference in March announced that new measures aimed at curbing sexual violence, especially child defilement and rape in the state, would be adopted.
Some of the measures, he said, would include pasting of photographs of convicted sex offenders in prominent public spaces in their local government headquarters and uploading the sex offenders’ photographs on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
