Cassper Nyovest condemns xenophobic attacks in South Africa

South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest, has condemned the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The 28-year-old made the condemnation in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

“There’s so much going on. I don’t even know where to start but my country, it’s women and children are disappearing by the day. Our fellow african brothers are being killed and some people are justifying it. It’s scary, sad and it’s wrong. Something needs to happen,” he wrote in one tweet.

Nigerians celebrities, Olamide, Yemi Alade, Adesua Etomi, Funke Akindele, have also condemned the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians.

President of the Nigeria Union South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, had said that recent attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Mr Olubajo said in a statement on Monday that the mob “looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has vowed to take measures over the ‘mindless’ attack on Nigerians in South Africa.

In a tweet on Monday, Onyeama assured that ‘definitive measures’ would be taken to prevent future occurrences.
