Over 4000 bakers from across the globe converged on Lagos State on September 3 and 4 for the Dewdrops Uncut Leaning Cake Fair held at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island.
Among those in attendance was American celebrity baker and reality television personality, Bartolo “Buddy” Valastro Jr., globally recognised as the face of Buddy V’s Ristorante.

Other notable names in the cake world like Terry Adido (Canada), Rossana Schrappe (Brazil), Chef Tuba Geckil (Turkey) and Nguyen Hoong Anh (Vietnam) were also present.
Speaking at the event which enjoyed generous support from the Lagos State Government, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Shuli Adebolu, said, “The administration of His Excellency Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to developing the tourism potentials of Lagos State and showcasing the State to the world.”
Mr. Adebolu added, “Lagos is one of the most beautiful cities in the world that tourists and fun-seekers need to discover. Our culture is amazing and welcoming. Aside from being the home of entertainment – the rating attained through the resourcefulness of our music and movie industries – Lagos is also home to arts.

“Entertainment and tourism are a focal point of this administration. The state government is open to meaningful collaborations that will support its vision of positioning Lagos State distinctly on the global map.”
Earlier in her speech, CEO of DewDrops Cake Limited and convener of the fair, Ezinne Okonkwo, lauded the Governor Sanwo-Olu administration for supporting the programme.
According to Mrs. Okonkwo “I give glory to God Almighty and specially thank our Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the success of this programme. I appreciate every sponsor who helped to make this year edition of Dewdrops Uncut Leaning Cake Fair a reality.
“With the vision of Lagos State Government for entertainment and tourism shared by the Hon. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Shuli Adebolu, I am convinced that Lagos State will occupy a premium position among tourist destinations in the world in the next couple of years.”

Tourists and investors have been drawn to Lagos for events like the Lagos Theatre Festival, Lagos International Jazz Festival, Eyo Festival, Eko International Film Festival and Felabration.
The city recently hosted the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) open which brought together not less than 200 players from more than 32 countries.
Among recent high profile visitors are French President Emmanuel Macron; Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg; former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, and supermodel, Naomi Campbell.
