Former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has accepted the apology of human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, over claims of defection.
Speaking on Monday at the beginning of 2019 Felabration, an annual festival of arts in honour of Afro-beat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Mr Falana accused Prof. Moghalu of defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I think it is unfair to single out Dr. Moghalu for recognition. We should not celebrate opportunism,” Falana said.
“Here is a politician who contested on the platform of a party, who has moved conveniently to the APC. They’ve just given him an appointment and he has just discarded his own political party. I don’t think that is fair for all.”
Moghalu had on Monday announced his departure from the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
Falana, however, apologised in a statement on Tuesday, saying it was a case of mistaken identity.
“I did not set out to embarrass Professor Moghalu as it was a case of mistaken identity. Any embarrassment caused by the incorrect aspect of the statement is deeply regretted,” he wrote.

Moghalu replied in a tweet on Wednesday, saying that he had accepted Falana’s apology.
“Femi Falana SAN has sent me a statement of apology for the false statements he made against me @FelabrationNG two days ago. I believe he has also sent his statement to the media. I accept his apology and we move on. Case is closed for me. @Femiakuti,” he wrote.
