Court adjourns to Nov. 7, case of man charged with drug trafficking

 A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, adjourned a case of alleged drug trafficking to Nov. 7, to enable the 33-year old suspect Saheed Azeez, take his plea.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), had arraigned Azeez on a one-count charge of drug trafficking, for allegedly peddling 2.8 kg of Cannabis Sativa, known as Marijuana.

The criminal charge marked FHC/L/350C/2019, is pending before Justice Maureen Onyetenu.

According to the charge singed by NDLEA prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, the defendant was alleged to have committed the offence on Sept. 1.

Aernan alleged that the defendant was unlawfully engaged in the sale and distribution of Cannabis Sativa within the Aburo, Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos.

The prosecutor said Cannabis was a banned narcotic substance, and trafficking in same contravened the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.

The Act provides for life imprisonment for a convicted offender.
