Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Adekunle Akinlade, during the 2019 general elections has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Akinlade defected to the APM after losing the governorship ticket to the eventual winner of the election, Dapo Abiodun.

He was the favourite candidate of Ibikunle Amosun who was governor at the time.
Akinlade’s return to the APC comes days after the Supreme Court dismissed his petition to challenge Abiodun’s victory.
The apex court ruled last Wednesday that Akinlade failed to prove his allegation against the governor.

Akinlade said he consulted with his followers before his return to the APC.
Amosun, however, was part of those whose suspension for anti-party activities was recently lifted by the APC leadership.
