Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport
Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known MC Oluomo, has
marked one year of surviving a knife attack.
MC Oluomo was stabbed on January 8, 2019, when the campaign flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos turned violent.
He was stabbed by members of a faction of the NURTW and
taken to Eko Hospital by national chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, and
others.
In a post on Instagram, the transport union boss said he was grateful to God to be alive. He also thanked the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, for his support; doctors at Eko Hospital, and law enforcement agencies.
He said: “Looking back at that fateful day and the
subsequent happenings that followed I cannot but appreciate a man of many paths
that has genuinely taken me as a son. I am referring to no other person than
His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. My appreciation also goes to the
entire members of Lagos State House of Assembly, APC Lagos State Executives and
entire party members.
“I appreciate the doctors and entire staff of Eko
Hospital for their prompt response and professional conducts, Nigerian law
Enforcement Agencies for swiftly going after the perpetrators. My gratitude
will not be completed without appreciating entire Nigerians both home and
abroad for their relentless prayers and support. If words could be transformed
to a hug, I would send you loads of them.”
MC Oluomo also called for peaceful co-existence among all. He celebrated his survival of the attack with widows.
The union leader was flown to the US for treatment after some days in Eko Hospital. He returned to Nigeria on January 30, 2019.
