Football lovers on social media have begun criticising Nigerian voters who neglected Barcelona winger, Asisat Oshoala, during voting process for African Women’s Player of the Year.
Asisat became the second woman after compatriot, Perpetua Nkwocha, to win the prize for the fourth time after seeing off challenge from Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout and South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana.
A report released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) showed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) member and head of technical committee, Ahmed Fresh, did not vote.
NFF Reform Committee member, Osasu Obayiuwana; former Super Falcons media officer, Chisom Ezeoke; backroom staff of Super Eagles head coach, Tunde Adelakun; and Perpetua Nkwocha, who won the title four times between 2004, 2005, 2010 and 2011, all voted against Asisat.
Fresh, however, said he did not get any nomination form, even by email from CAF.
