Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, has travelled to the United Kingdom for medical attention, Vanguard has reported.
The former Finance Minister was abducted on his birthday, September 21, by Fulani herdsmen on his farm in Ilado village, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State in September.
He was released after 72 hours following the payment of N5milliion as ransom to the kidnappers.
Four of the kidnappers have been arrested and charged to court by the Police after they were identified by the 77-year-old.
The septuagenarian has now decided to seek thorough medical attention in London following the injuries and trauma he went through in the hands of his captors.
It will be recalled that he said he trekked for days in the bush after he was kidnapped and was made to sleep on the floor for the three days.
An aide to Falae, Captain Moshood Raji (rtd), is quoted as saying the former finance minister “had not been able to have enough rest after the abduction saga.
According to him, “Chief Falae would use the opportunity of the vacation to do some other things which include medical treatment.”
Raji said Falae, who is also on vacation, is “expected to be back by the end of this month”.
The recent $5.2bn slammed on MTN by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is traced to Falae’s kidnap.
His abductors reportedly made their ransom demand using an unregistered line on the company’s network contrary to an order that all such lines be cut off by August 11.
