Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has responded again to the allegation of laundering N2 billion meant for refurbishing the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport.
A video recorded in 2017 of the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, alleging that Mr Fani-Kayode laundered the said amount was culled up on social media early Sunday.
Mr Amaechi alleged that Rivers State Government at the time headed by Peter Odili approved the sum and gave it to Fani-Kayode who “went away with the N2 billion.”
When asked by his interviewer on Channels Television if those were allegations, Amaechi said he was making ‘statement of fact’.
Despite refuting the allegation in 2017 on the same programme, Fani-Kayode in several tweets on Sunday again denied the allegation, adding that the amount in question was N3 billion.
The former minister told his critics to meet the alleged contractors for the project, Julius Berger, to clear their doubts.
“The runway at Port Harcourt Int. Airport was re-built & fully paid for by me when I was Min. of Aviation. If anyone has any doubts about that they should ask Julius Berger who were the contractors. The runway was commissioned & airport opened shortly after we left office,” he said.
“Those who falsely asserted on @channelstv two years ago that I did not build the runway and that I ran away with the 3 billion naira that was used to build it are sick. We settled that matter in a debate on @channelstv two years ago.”
