An assistant director of administration in the State House, Laetitia Dagan, was killed by alleged internet fraudsters, locally called Yahoo boys, after her name was revealed by the police, ThisDay reports.
Ms Dagan, 47, was murdered in her apartment around 11 pm on Monday after working late in her office in Aso Rock.
The newspaper said Dagan reported to the police after she discovered she was living among alleged fraudsters in Lokogoma area of Abuja.
The report quoted some of her friends saying she considered relocating.
Dagan was said to have confided in the police who reportedly divulged her name to the alleged fraudsters.
The Aso Rock official was then trailed and killed.
The deceased’s security guard, believed to have aided the killers, is reportedly in police custody.
Although, FCT police said on Wednesday they had arrested one person, Edirin Ohonre, over the incident. They did not say if he was her guard.
Mr Ohonre is said to “have conspired with others now at large to perpetrate the crime.”
The suspect is, according to the police, co-operating with investigators.
