Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, on Thursday attended the burial of Jennifer Etuh, wife of Thomas Etuh, chairman, Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria (FEPSAN) and member, Presidential Fertiliser Initiative (PFI).
Obasanjo, at the Family Worship Centre (FWC) Abuja, called on Nigerians to see themselves as agents of unity in the face of insecurity.
“The bible says in all things give thanks. In the part of the country where I come from, culturally, we believe that anybody who dies no matter his or her age, has automatically become the senior to those alive,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter how old we are here, Jennifer has become our senior and paying last respect to her has shown that even in death, we also give thanks to God.
“As Thomas has said, here we are; I have seen people I will meet in the Mosque here and I have also seen people I will meet in the Church here and what can be unifying than this.
“Jennifer is a unifier and a bridge builder both in life and in death.”
Mr Mustapha said those who walk uprightly enter into peace and that they find rest even as they lie in death.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had earlier at the service of songs described Mrs Etuh as “a true child of God” whose death had become a very special moment in history.
Mr Gbajabiamila said her demise had gone a long way to show that a worthy life was the greatest legacy any individual can leave for those alive.
Also at the funeral were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele; and Managing Director, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Uche Orji.
The deceased is survived by four boys – Emmanuel, Yusuf, David and Daniel – and her husband.
