Police in Ogun have sacked a Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) officer, Olaniyi Ogunsoro, following his involvement in the death of Remo Stars defender, Tiamiyu Kazeem, on February 22.
Kazeem was said to have pushed off a moving police van and crushed by an oncoming vehicle while being taken to the police headquarters in Abeokuta.
Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Tuesday that the officer involved has been dismissed from service.
“The SARS officer Olaniyi Ogunsoro has been dismissed from service,” Oyeyemi said.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters, Ogunyonwon Peter, visited the family of the deceased on Tuesday in Sagamu to commiserate with them.
The killing spark protest in Sagamu on Monday, with two persons reportedly killed and others injured.
