Manchester United forward, Odion Ighalo, received a call from his hero, Andy Cole, half-way into a session with the club’s media.
Cole, 48, won five Premier League titles and one Uefa Champions League trophy at Old Trafford.
After joining the Red Devils on a six-month loan from Shanghai Shenhua in January, Ighalo revealed that the former English striker was one of the players he watched when growing up.
The club shared a video on social media on Tuesday of the moment Ighalo’s media session was interrupted by the call.
Ighalo beamed throughout the conversation while answering Cole’s questions.
Cole put the Nigerian on the spot when he asked which was his best Andy Cole goal.
Ighalo, 30, responded saying he had memories of a lot of goals scored by the former forward but recalled as his best one which Cole chested the ball before shooting into the net.
Cole then asked if joining Manchester United would change Ighalo.
The 30-year-old said: “Yea, I’ve been training with the team for some time now and it’s been great. It’s a big club. You know when you are outside you say Manchester United but now you are in and you know how big the club is.”
He added that he works every day to be fit and to succeed in the club of his dreams.
Ighalo is gradually finding his feet in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team after scoring a goal in his first start in the UEFA Europa League last Thursday.
Since his arrival, Ighalo has played five matches across all competitions, and he will be hoping to find the back of the net when Manchester United visit Wayne Rooney’s Derby County for their FA Cup fifth-round match on Thursday.
