Kano State Government has named Aminu Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano, replacing the deposed Muhammad Sanusi II.
Bayero is the son of late Emir Ado Bayero and was until his new appointment the emir of Bichi, one of the four newly created emirates – Karaye, Gaya, Rano and Bichi.
Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, announced Bayero’s appointment on Monday, saying it takes immediate effect.
“Section 11 (1) of the Law has empowered the governor to appointment Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano,” he said.
Mr Alhaji said the four kingmakers of Kano emirate recommended Bayero’s appointment as the emir of Kano.
Bayero is a graduate of Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano.
