Peter and Paul Okoye of the sensational pop duo, P-Square, turned 34 on Wednesday.
With over 30 singles, six albums, local/international collaborations and multiple awards including the 2010 KORA Award for Artiste of the Year and 2015 MAMA for Artiste of the Decade, P-Square is undeniably the biggest singing group in Africa at the moment.
To celebrate the twin brothers turning 34, here are 10 of their biggest hits.
- Senorita
In 2003, P-Square’s debut album Last Night included the evergreen single ‘Senorita’. Many will say the song paved way for every great song that came thereafter. The video features legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt.
- Omoge Mi
Off the Get Squared album, ‘Omoge Mi’ tells the story of a cheating girlfriend. It was a classic R&B song that everyone fell in love with.
- Do Me
Who could ever forget the hit song with the hook “e get as he dey do me, do me” with the soulful voice of Waje. ‘Do Me’ was a chart topper and even won the Video of the Year award at the 2008 Channel O Music Video Awards.
- No One Like You
‘No One Like You’ was the love song of the year 2007. It was played at every wedding ceremony and was the theme song for marriage proposals.
- Bizzy Body
The single ‘Bizzy Body’ put the famous brothers on the map. The lyrics “if I catch you I go turn you on, and when I grab you till the break of dawn” stuck like nursery rhymes. The song went on to win the Song of the Year award at the 2006 The Headies.
- Roll It
‘Roll It’ was another dance hit from the award winning artistes. The single was off their biggest selling album Game Over. The video features dance queen, Kaffy.
- Temptation ft Alaye
Another big hit from the brother was ‘Temptation’ featuring Alaye. The song had a blend of pop, R&B and rap.
- Beautiful Onyinye ft Rick Ross
In 2012, P-Square featured international rapper, Rick Ross, on the song ‘Beautiful Onyinye’. The video of the song was nothing short of perfection with all the acts appearing in all-white assemble.
- Chop My Money ft May D, Akon
In December 2011, P-Square signed a record deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik label. In 2013, they released the remix of the song ‘Chop My Money’ which featured Akon. The song also featured Square Records former act, May D.
- Bring it on
The brothers also released another international collaboration in 2015, this time with Dave Scott. ‘Bring it on’ has been tagged inspirational music by many fans.
