Police in Lagos have arrested former governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife for attending the party of actress, Funke Akindele, on Saturday at her residence.
Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz, held the party in celebration of her husband’s 43rd birthday with over 20 attendees in violation of the government’s lockdown order.
Lagos police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, told Premium Times on Tuesday that Mr Gbadamosi and wife were in police custody.
“He and his wife reported at the State CID Yaba. They also attended the party organised by Funke and her husband,” he said.
Gbadamosi, who recently decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), owns the estate housing Funke’s residence.
He confirmed attending the party in an apology video posted on social media.
The politician said he attended the party thinking he would meet the celebrant’s family but things changed an hour later when more people arrived.
Funke and her husband were sentenced on Monday by a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ogba to 14 days of community service and a fine of N100,000 each.
Singer, Naira Marley, who was also at the party, is now in police custody.
The state attorney-general, Moyosore Onigbanjo, had told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that all who attended the party held in Amen Estate in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos would be prosecuted.
