The Rivers State Government has released 22 members of staff of oil firm, ExxonMobil, arrested for violating the governor’s executive order restricting movement in the state.
Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers State, Prof. Zaccheus Adangor, said they were released on Sunday without charges.
The workers were arrested on April 16 for entering the state in violation of the border closure ordered by Governor Nyesom Wike.
The governor had vowed to prosecute them like the two pilots and 10 passengers flown into the state in a Caverton helicopter.
The attorney-general, however, said the state had decided against pressing charges.
He said they have been released from the State Isolation Centre at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
