Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has said that the state has not tested anyone for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Mr Bello spoke on Sunday on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
Kogi is not among the 20 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, which have at least one confirmed at case of COVID-19.
The governor, however, assured that the state’s sensitisation programme was working since Kogi was yet to record a case of the deadly virus.
“So far so good we have launched an app and if nobody shows any cause for test, we wouldn’t go out there to catch any human being to say we want to do test because there is adequate sensitisation of our citizens,” he said.
Bello admitted that the state had no test centre but sounded relieved there was a test centre in Abuja among other neighbouring states.
“But we have test kits that we have on our own purchased in the event that there is a need to collect any sample. But nobody has come up with any issue, and there is no reported case, what are we going to collect? he asked.
“So far so good, I think our sensitisation programme is working excellently well. Our people are following our instructions and we are good for it.”
Bello had once disclaimed rumours he tested positive for COVID-19.
He said he was “fit as a fiddle” and challenged his detractors to a bout.
