Comedian, Abisi Ezechukwu, popularly known as Nasty Blaq, has apologised for sharing a skit which appeared to promote sexual violence.
He made the apology in a statement he released on Twitter on Monday.
It reads: I from the depth of my heart apologise to everyone who got offended by my latest skit and make it clear that the rapey reception it got wasn’t what I and my team intended…”
He also shared another video which according to him, is the concluding part of the skit in order to prove that it was not intended to promote rape.
“…I was to drop this as the continuation of the video. Please I’m not in support of sexual harassment and will never support it…,” he tweeted.
Nasty Blaq had earlier faced criticism on Twitter for a skit which appeared to show his character trapping a girl in his house after she came in to ask him for some oil.
The comedian had promoting rape in an interview with the Punch Newspapers published in December 2019.
He said, “I can’t really say but we could be biased in this country. When we do something with a girl, they say we are sexually harassing them but when the same thing is done to a male, it wouldn’t be regarded as such…I don’t feel we are harassing any girl… All we do is create content and females are aware and are part of the content. I am not promoting rape or sexual harassment.”
