Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commiserated with the family of the former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Richard Akinjide.
Mr Akinjide died on Tuesday morning in his Ibadan home in Oyo State.
In a tweet, Atiku described the late ex-minister as a ‘family patriarch’.
“May the soul of Chief Richard Akinjide Rest In Peace. He lived an impactful life as a lawyer, politician, administrator and most of all, a family patriarch. On behalf of my family, I express my condolences to the Akinjide’s family,” he wrote.
Akinjide was a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also served as a chieftain in the Olubadan of Ibadan’s court of clan nobles.
Under his watch as Nigeria’s attorney-general, the country temporarily reversed execution of armed robbers and the abolition of a decree barring exiles from returning to the country.
