Senator Shehu Sani has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to disband the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Sani said in a tweet on Wednesday that a new one should be set up consisting mainly of health practitioners.
“The PTF on #COVID-19 should be disbanded; the President should constitute a new one purely made up of head of health parastatals, medical professionals, health specialists & representatives of health unions,” he wrote.
“This task force relates with Nigerians reports to the President regularly.”
The former Kaduna legislator said in another tweet that politicians should instead make up a presidential palliative committee.
“A Presidential palliative committee is where the ministers, political appointees and the representative of the governors forum should belong. Leave the handling of #COVID-19 to medical experts and not politicians,” he wrote.
The Mustapha-led task force have faced criticism since some of its members broke safety and health guidelines at the burial of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who died of coronavirus.
