Senator Dino Melaye has expressed fear for ‘core’ northern states as cases of the coronavirus pandemic increase in the region.
Tweeting on Saturday, the former Kogi legislator advised the governors in the region to enforce all safety rules endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
“I’m afraid for the core Northern States. I appeal to the governors to be more proactive and enforce all conditions stated by WHO & NCDC,” he wrote.
“Covid-19 is real and it is a world leveler. It has no respect for status, religion or wealth. Please lets no politicise with public health.”
Zamfara, on Friday, became the latest northern state to record cases of the deadly disease, according to the NCDC.
Gombe, however, recorded 21 cases same day, the largest on a single day for a north eastern state since the disease broke out in the country.
