Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, has revealed that she is growing a plant called Angelique, while in lockdown over the coronavirus pandemic.
The 59-year-old made this known when she shared a video of herself tending to the plant on Instagram on Saturday.
“Guess what I’m growing in confinement: a plant called…’Angelique’ (Angelica Archangelica)…,” she captioned the video.
On Thursday it was announced that the ‘Wombo Lombo’ crooner, is collaborating with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to release a song called ‘No Pata Pata’ to raise awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.
The song is a remix of the 1967 song ‘Pata Pata’ by South African Singer, Miriam Makeba.
‘Pata Pata’ means ‘Touch Touch’ in Xhosa, so Angelique’s version will include lyrics such as, “We need to keep our hands clean ‘no-Pata Pata’… Don’t touch your face, keep distance please and ‘no-Pata Pata,’” according to a statement by the UNICEF.
