Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, has urged British media house, Sky News, to take down an article in which a popular thread hairstyle was described as a ‘coronavirus haircut.’
The 58-year-old voiced her opinion on Saturday.
She wrote, “ Thanks @moabudu and @ebonylife @skynews on behalf of myself and many other African women who have shown their displeasure of this post, ( spiky coronavirusvhairstyle)I would like to urge you to take this post down as soon as possible. It is derogatory and condescending to us, our forefathers, our foremothers and generations to come...”
Media personality, Mo Abudu, had earlier condemned the article.
Sky News has since made changes to the article.
It now states that a Kenyan hair dresser is offering what she calls a ‘corona hairstyle.’
