Police in Lagos have arrested the officer who shot a 16-year-old girl simply named Tina in Iyana Oworo area of the state.
Tweeting on Friday, Lagos police spokesman, Bala Elkana, said the officer has been detained at the headquarters.
Alhtough, he did not mention the officer’s name, Mr Elkana assured that justice would prevail.
“The killer cop is identified, arrested and detained at the Headquarters. He will face the full weight of the law. Justice will surely prevail. Members of the Public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation,” he wrote.
Tina was reportedly shot on Tuesday and said to have died on Friday morning.
Nigerians drew the authorities’ attention to the matter via social media and are calling for justice.
