Reggae singer, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, is dead.
He was 57 years old.
His manager, Omenka Uzoma, confirmed the death in a video shared on social media on Tuesday morning.
“I have been having pressure calls from all over. Yes, it is true that the legend has gone to be with the LORD.
“Let’s celebrate him, his achievements and his family. Whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified,” Omenka said.
Majek reportedly died in a New York hospital on Monday.
Born in Benin City, Edo State, he is best known for his 1988 album, Prisoner of Conscience, which has the multiple award-winning single, ‘Send Down the Rain’.
He spent the better part of the last two decades of his life suffering alcohol addiction.
