Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Secretariat, Abuja.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibidiro, received the form from the aspirant.
Speaking with reporters afterwards, Mr Obaseki urged the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to recuse himself from the party’s governorship primaries in Edo scheduled for June 22 because he is an interested party.
“It is against natural justice for a man to be a judge in his own case,” he said.
The governor, who is seeking a second term in office against Oshiomhole’s wish, said he and seven other governors paid a visit to the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, as part of efforts to strengthen the party and reassure him that they remained committed to building the party.
“For me and my colleague – governors, we can’t see the party we are building destroyed. We should all drop our egos and work for our party,” he said.
Obaseki denied obtaining governorship nomination forms for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and insisted he would win the Edo APC primaries regardless of the mode chosen.
