Nollywood actress, Yewande Adekoya, has asked the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to explain the amendments to its sixth code in order to avoid confusion.
The 36-year-old asked for an explanation on the code, which makes it illegal for streaming services providers to claim exclusive rights on their content, in a post she shared on Instagram on Thursday.
She wrote, “If the amendment clause has nothing to do with local content producers in Nigeria and their various broadcasters, kindly spell it out in the amendment clause in order to avoid confusion and misquotations in the nearest future.@nbcgovng.”
Founder of movie streaming service, Iroko TV, Jason Njoku, has also criticised the code, saying it will destroy pay TV.
His wife, actress, Mary Njoku, also spoke against it on Instagram on Thursday, accusing ,the NBC of ‘coming for her business.’
