A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has dismissed a suit seeking to stop Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from contesting in the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary scheduled for Thursday.
Justice E. O. Obile struck out the suit on Wednesday following an out-of-court settlement between parties.
The court had stood down hearing for three hours after counsel for the plaintiff sought permission to settle with the defendants.
On resumption, the plaintiff’s lead counsel, D. C. Denwigwe, withdrew the suit on the grounds that all parties had settled amicably.
Justice Obile told the parties that it was the right thing to do.
