Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Festus Keyamo, as a “dedicated patriot”.
Mr El-Rufai said in a tweet on Sunday that Mr Keyamo allows his actions to be guided by public interest, adding that that is why he is loved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Minister Festus Keyamo @fkeyamo is a dedicated patriot. A good man whose directions, decisions & actions are guided by public interest & concern for the voiceless. That is why PMB loves him like a son! Remain steadfast my brother,” the governor wrote.
Keyamo has been at loggerheads with federal lawmakers on the modalities for implementing the Special Public Works programme of the Federal Government meant to hire 774,000 youths across Nigeria.
The beneficiaries are expected to be paid N20,000 per month from October to December 2020.
Keyamo alleges that the lawmakers are making attempts to hijack the programme, but the lawmakers say they have a constitutional obligation to be part of the process.
