Arotile: Name streets, buildings after pilot, Shehu Sani tells govts

Senator Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has urged the federal and state governments to immortalise the late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile by naming streets or public buildings after her.

Sani stated this in a tweet on Thursday as Arotile was laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.

“As the late heroine Tolulope Arotile is buried today, we appreciate her short but accomplished and patriotic life of service to her country. I call the states and the FG to immortalize her by naming streets or public buildings after her. May her soul rest in peace. Amen,” he wrote.

Arotile, Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, was said to have been knocked down by a car on reverse at the Air Force Base in Kaduna.

Driver of the vehicle Nehemiah Adejoh, an ex-classmate of Arotile, is already in the custody of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The force says the case would be transferred to the police being a civil one.
