Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has tested negative for coronavirus, his media aide Kehinde Akinyemi has said.
Mr Akinyemi said in a statement on Sunday that Obasanjo was tested for coronavirus on Friday at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library penthouse in Okemosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Giving details, Akinyemi said Dr. Olukunle Oluwasemowo of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory 54gene, Lagos collected Obasanjo’s sample for the test.
“The laboratory is one of the accredited laboratories approved by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to conduct the crucial Covid-19 test on both asymptomatic and symptomatic Nigerians,” the statement said.
The media aide said the test result returned negative on Saturday.
This followed the death of former Ogun senator Buruji Kashamu on Saturday in Lagos. Buruji, 62, died of coronavirus complications.
