President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Prof Sunday Ododo as general manager/chief executive officer of the National Theatre.
The appointment, along with those of eight other agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, was announced on Wednesday.
Ododo is a professor of performance aesthetics and theatre technology in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
A gifted playwright, he has served as national vice president of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and president of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA).
Other appointments in an approval letter conveyed to the minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed by chief of staff to the president Prof. Ibrahim Gambari include Buki Ponle as managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Nura Sani Kangiwa as director-general of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism and Francis Nwosu as executive secretary of the Nigerian Press Council.
Others are Ebeten Ivara, director-general, National Gallery of Arts; Olalekan Fadolapo, registrar/CEO, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria; Ado Mohammed Yahuza, executive secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation; Prof. Aba Isa Tijjani, director-general, National Commission for Museums and Monuments and Oluwabunmi Ayobami Amao, director general, Centre For Black And African Arts And Civilization.
All the appointments take effect from September 1, 2020.
