The outgoing managing director/chief executive officer of Polaris Bank Limited Tokunbo Abiru has collected his nomination form from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest in the Lagos-East senatorial bye-election slated for October 31.
Mr Abiru picked the form on Wednesday at the APC secretariat in Lagos.
The election is to replace the late Senator Bayo Osinowo, who represented Lagos East senatorial district until his death last month.
Abiru had announced he would retire from the service of Polaris Bank effective August 31, 2020 after completing his second two-year tenure at the helm of affairs of the bank.
Abiru had a brief stint in public service having served from 2011 to 2013 as the commissioner of finance in Lagos under former governor Babatunde Fashola.
He was appointed the group managing director and chief executive officer of the erstwhile Skye Bank in July 2016.
Before his appointment, he had served in several capacities in some of the leading banks in Nigeria’s banking industry, including at one time as an executive director in First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an honorary senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
