Pop star Davido has confirmed he will be making his Hollywood debut in the forthcoming comedy classic, Coming to America 2.
The ‘Fall’ singer tweeted on Monday, September 14 that he couldn’t wait for the movie to be released.
The movie comes as the sequel to the original film of 1988.
Coming to America 2 is set for release on December 18, 2020 in the United States.
Like the original movie, stars like Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, and Paul Bates retain their roles as the main characters.
They will be joined by Jermaine Fowler, Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Davido, Luenell, Rotimi, Teyana Taylor and Michael Blackson.
News of Davido’s appearance in the movie first broke in September 2019 after Michael Blackson congratulated Davido on Twitter.
“Davido told me he has a performance scene in the movie #ComingToAmerica2, congrats homie,” Blackson wrote.
Davido made his Nollywood debut in a 2015 movie titled John Zerebe.
The movie was executively produced by HKN Music and Viral Entertainment, an affiliate of Davido Music Worldwide.
Directed by Odiba Alfred, the movie also stars Gloria Young, Ikey Ojeogwu, Kanfui Danku, Emma Blaq and Mimi Orjiekwe.
Coming to America 2, however, is produced by Kevin Misher and directed by Craig Brewer, from a screenplay by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein, and Kenya Barris, based on characters created by Eddie Murphy.
Filming officially began on August 17, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Eddie Murphy plays Akeem Joffer, a crown prince of a wealthy African nation of Zamunda who grows weary of his pampered lifestyle on his 21st birthday and wishes to do more for himself.
