Channels TV anchor Maupe Ogun-Yusuf has welcomed a baby girl with husband Mohammed Yesufu at Green Acres Hospital in Abuja.
Mrs Ogun-Yusuf, who co-anchors the broadcast station’s flagship breakfast show Sunrise Daily, announced this via Twitter on Friday.
The baby Maryam Toluwanile was born on September 10.
She wrote: “On Thursday, 10th of September, @MoYusuf83017329 & I were blessed with a brand new addition to our family, Maryam Toluwanile, a beautiful lady who weighed 3.6kg at 36wks!
“What an experience it’s been this last week, but as I have since learnt, nothing prepares you for being a mother than motherhood itself and its been such a privilege for which I am eternally grateful to Almighty God.
“My baby and I perhaps might not be here today but for God and the special team at Green Acres Hospital, a little gem of a facility led by Dr Olayinka Olaniyan. His quick thinking and decision put my baby and I out of harm’s way. To them, a big ‘thank you.'”
Ogun-Yusuf advocated for improved health care in the country especially in government facilities to prevent maternal mortality.
“So as you rejoice with my family and I, I plead with all concerned in the health sector, those who have any level of influence, to deal sincerely while at negotiations and while rethinking this sector, because rethink it, we must! It is unacceptable that any woman has to die only to bring life or any family must mourn because they sought a little joy. I hope it will be one of the thoughts that will occupy our minds as this country turns,” she wrote.
Maupe and her husband welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in November 2018. They got married in December 2017 in Lagos.
