Big Brother Naija season 5 housemate Laycon has revealed he has a mild form of the sickle cell anaemia.
The singer disclosed this in a conversation with housemates on Tuesday night.
“My genotype is SC (Sickle Cell), I don’t like to tell people my genotype because I feel they’d think I’m sick,” he said.
Responding, Vee said: “But have I ever asked if you’re sick?”
Dorathy added it was probably why Laycon was skinny.
Hemoglobin (Hb) SC disease is the second most common type of sickle cell disease. It happens when one inherits the Hb C gene from one parent and the Hb S gene from the other. People with Hb SC have similar symptoms to people with Hb SS. However, the anaemia is less serious.
Twitter users on Wednesday expressed support for Laycon while some attacked Erica, saying she probably knew Laycon’s health status before she used it against him in an outburst which eventually got her disqualified.
