Christian dramatist Mike Bamiloye on Thursday revealed a lot that was hitherto known to the public about his 32-year-old marriage to Gloria.
Bamiloye shared on Instagram a photo taken on October 7, 1988 at the engagement ceremony.
In the lengthy post, he said both families were skeptical of the union because he had no job. He was 28 at the time and his wife was 24.
“The families were so skeptical and would have rejected this plan, but these young boy and girl said hey wanted to marry. This girl was entering into a future which only God knew,” he wrote.
“Full time drama minister and no other job. Owing my Landlord about nine months house-rent at the time I entered into full time ministry. It was Families who rose up to support this wedding o.”
Bamiloye said his elder sister rented for them their first apartment while his wife’s uncle gave them some money. He said his best man bought the suit, shirt and tie he (Bamiloye) wore on his wedding day while his wife’s aunt in America sent them the shoes he wore on the wedding day.
He added: “It was one of our ministry members who gave us the money we deposited for the Wedding gown, because we had gone to three places where we wanted to rent a Wedding Gown for N500. It was the money we saved we used to deposit for our furniture for the living room. Forget about bed. A mattress was good for us for the first five or six months.”
Mike and Gloria have three children. Their first grandchild named Gloria came in January.
The child is born to their first son Damilola who got married to Ella in November 2018.
